Back in May, Alabama's Nick Saban accused Texas A&M of buying its players. Aggies' head coach Jimbo Fisher was quick to defend his team and deny Saban's comments. He called the allegedly unwarranted claims “despicable,” and things snowballed from there. Bryce Young voiced his opinion on the beef at his SEC Media Days appearance on Tuesday.

“Both coaches are great coaches and great competitors,” the quarterback said, according to 247Sports. “When you compete at this high of a level, stuff like that is bound to happen.”

Saban and Fisher are both highly decorated and reputable NCAA coaches. Their tenures stretch well before NIL endorsements, the root of their beef, became an option for collegiate athletes.

Bryce Young ensured the media that tiffs like this are pretty common, even though it was a huge story back in May. Now that the situation has simmered down, Saban seems to be more focused on his players' opportunities.

During his appearance at SEC Media Days, he boasted about his organization's reputation that grants his players NIL opportunities.

“We have a great brand at Alabama … Their value there is going to be enhanced because of the value that our brand can help them create,” Saban said on Tuesday. His players earned a cumulative $3 million last year in NIL deals, the most of any team in the country.

Of course, there's a difference between buying players during the recruitment process and players gaining endorsements because of their success with a team. For instance, Bryce Young earned NIL deals with companies like BMW of Tuscaloosa and Subway because of his Heisman Trophy-winning performance.
