Despite getting swept in the first round of the playoffs, Damian Lillard received some good news as he is named the winner of one of the highest honors from the Professional Basketball Writers Association.

The PBWA recently announced that the Portland Trail Blazers star guard will be the recipient of this year's Magic Johnson Award. It is given to the player who has showed excellence on the court, as well as cooperation with the members of the media.

The 26-year-old Weber State product once again had a very solid season for the Blazers and helped them clinch the eighth seed in the Western Conference, even after their slow start to the campaign. He also averaged stellar numbers of 22.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 36.4 minutes per game.

If the Blazers' front office can complete some moves this summer to bring in more talent to the team, the two-time All-Star will have a chance to win more games and make the franchise a winning group again. Should he also continue the way he conducts himself around the reporters, it won't be surprising if he'll be named the media's choice to win their Magic Johnson Award for the second consecutive year.
