The Arizona Diamondbacks finished the regular season with an 84-78 record and in second place in the National League West division. This team wasn't expected to do much in the playoffs as they limped into the postseason on a four-game losing streak. However, the beginning of the playoffs is when this team got scorching hot. The Diamondbacks started the playoffs off with a sweep against the NL Central champs, the Milwaukee Brewers, and then they followed that up with a sweep against the team that finished ahead of them in the NL West, the Los Angeles Dodgers. That sent the Diamondbacks into the NLCS against the Philadelphia Phillies, and both teams entered the series playing their best baseball of the season.

Going into the NLCS, the Phillies had not lost a playoff game at home this season, and that trend continued in games one and two of the series. Philadelphia stormed out to a 2-0 series lead, and they look destined for another trip to the World Series. The Diamondbacks were able to come back and even the series up at two, but Philadelphia took game five, and would just need to avoid two straight home losses to go back to the World Series.

Against all odds, the Diamondbacks took the final two games of the series in Philadelphia, and they are now headed to the World Series to take on the Texas Rangers. This has been a special journey for the entire team, but it has been especially historic for Arizona's Evan Longoria, who is going back to the World Series for the first time since 2008.

Evan Longoria is just the fourth player in MLB history to go back to the World Series 15 years after his first appearance, and is the first non-pitcher to do it, according to a tweet from Sarah Langs. He joins Dennis Martinez, Jim Kaat and Babe Adams as the only players to pull off that feat.

The last time Evan Longoria went the World Series, he played for the Tampa Bay Rays, and the team they took on in that final series? The Philadelphia Phillies. Longoria and the Rays went onto lose that series in five games. Longoria has already found some revenge on the Phillies in this postseason as the Diamondbacks have eliminated Philadelphia along the way, but the job isn't finished in his comeback story, as he wants to win it all.

Game one of the World Series will take place on Friday, and it will be at Texas.
