Argentina soccer legend Diego Maradona has passed away at 60-years old, according to reports in his homeland.  One of the best players to ever take the pitch, Maradona underwent successful brain surgery in early November and just weeks later, he's gone.

The 1986 World Cup winner is widely regarded as one of the most talented players to ever play the game, spending the majority of his career with Napoli, while also playing stints with La Liga sides Barcelona and Sevilla.

Maradona, who was the coach of Gimnasia y Esgrima in his home country, had been admitted to hospital on several occasions since his retirement. He almost died of cocaine-induced heart failure in 2000 and underwent years of rehabilitation

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, who spent several years playing for Real Madrid's basketball team and is an avid soccer fan, reacted to the news on Twitter:

2020 has seen many notable athletes pass away, from Kobe Bryant to now, Maradona. The South American legend was a controversial talent during his playing days due to his excessive use of alcohol and drugs, but nonetheless, he was always capable of putting the ball in the back of the net.
