As one of the shining stars within the gaming industry, Masahiro Sakurai, the man best known for his work as the Director behind the legendary Super Smash Bros series, has recently been featured as the “Most Valuable Creator” for the Famitsu Dengeki Game Awards 2021, which he has openly stated that it was a great honor to receive.

Being the humble man that he is, Sakurai did not pass up the opportunity to mention that the amount of time and effort that he placed into the Super Smash Bros Ultimate was not solely from his own efforts and that the staff and contributors from all over the world are also to thank for creating such an amazing game that will last many lifetimes.

Even though many people have been concerned about Sakurai's health and wellbeing over the years, due to the incredible amount of stress he took on in order to make sure that Super Smash Bros Ultimate was the best game it could be, he did manage to find some time to take a break after the final DLC for the game was released, stating that “It's probably best to forget about me for a while.”

However, Masahiro's nature of being a workaholic eventually caught up with him, as he's already back from his vacation and working on a brand new project. That being said: It has not been confirmed whether the project has anything to do with Smash Bros or any of his previous works such as Kirby or Kid Icarus. As far as the public knows, the new project may not even be related to video games at all, as mentioned in a translated remark from GoNintendo.com:

“I have been away for a while now, but I am working on something. My eyes maybe a little tired. You may see me in the near future in a place that has nothing to do with game production. You may or may not be able to see me. I hope to see you again in the future. Thank you very much for your time.”

Regardless of whatever project he's working on, his fans and supporters will be anticipating with bated breath.
