Just prior to first pitch of Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game, National League starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw was interviewed in the dugout by Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal. The former Cy Young pitcher was asked what he had done to prepare to face this American League lineup that is completely stacked. His answer was both surprising and hilarious.

Kershaw replied “”I'm going to throw as hard as I can, hit 91 and see what happens” as he laughs.

Clayton Kershaw's fastball is obviously not what it once was. He consistently hits low 90's at best with his fastball. That's what happens with age. Nevertheless, Kershaw is having a fantastic season; one good enough to start his first All-Star Game. It happens to be in front of his home crowd.

The future Hall of Fame starter is 7-2 with a 2.13 ERA with a ludicrous 0.91 WHIP. He is among the candidates for NL Cy Young once again.

He would pitch the first inning. After allowing a leadoff single to Shohei Ohtani on the first pitch of the game, he proceeded to pick him off first base. He then struck out Aaron Judge and got Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to ground out to end the inning.

Afterward, Kershaw met with Rosenthal again to talk about picking off Ohtani. You couldn't wipe the smile off of Kershaw's face as he relives pitching at home during the All-Star Game.

The National League would take an early 2-0 lead. However, the American League hit back-to-back home runs by Giancarlo Stanton and Byron Buxton. That gave the AL the lead 3-2, where it stands in the 6th inning. The NL is looking to snap an 8-game losing streak in the Midsummer Classic.
