The Miami Dolphins have beefed up their backfield this offseason with the addition of veteran running back Frank Gore in the mix.

This has changed the game plan entirely for the running game as the Dolphins have made it an emphasis to vocalize that both Gore and Kenyan Drake will receive ample playing time at the position. According to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, Dolphins look primed to give the duo some split carry duties for the 2018 season.

Miami is in a position of having to capable running backs that they want to get the most out of together in the backfield. This has made the route giving them split carry duties the most reasonable option at this moment given what both bring to the table.

Heading into his 14th season, Gore has proven that he is still a highly productive player as recorded 961 rushing yards last year and has reached 1,000 rushing yards nine times in his career. This has pushed him to fifth all-time in that category with the chance to pass up Hall of Famer Curtis Martin in the 2018 campaign to move up to fourth as he trails by less than 100 yards.

Meanwhile, Drake has burst onto the scene as a uniquely talented running back with big-play ability that could be a factor in both the running and passing game. In the second half of last season, he put up 444 of his career-high 644 rushing yards in the final five games of the regular seasons, including a pair of 100-yard performances. All of this makes for the two being heavily featured in the offense in hopes them providing some significant stability out of the backfield.
