The Miami Dolphins are entering a crucial stretch of the regular season that will have a huge impact on their playoff chances. This has pushed the Dolphins to add more depth to the wide receiver position, signing free agent Brice Butler.

Butler has bounced around the league this season. He originally left the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason to join the Arizona Cardinals on a two-year deal, but he was released just prior to the start of the regular season.

This was followed by a second stint with the Cowboys where Butler re-signed with the team on Sept. 18. He was then cut by the team on Oct. 22 to make room for the acquisition of former Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper. He has yet to see a ball thrown his way this season while not playing a single snap.

This change of scenery provides Butler an opportunity to get his career back on track with a chance to play with the Dolphins. There isn't a guarantee he will take the field, but it is yet another opportunity for him to prove himself to be a valuable asset in the passing game.

Through his first five years in the league, Butler has tallied 73 receptions for 1,177 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 63 games played. Last season, he notched 15 catches on 24 targets for a career-high 317 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

Butler has a chance to prove he can be a strong asset in the passing game, which he originally set to prove after leaving the Cowboys with eyes on an expanded role where he could contribute in a meaningful manner. He will get his crack at it after the Week 11 bye with their next matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.
