The Miami Dolphins have had quite the offseason. The Dolphins brought in an innovative head coach in Mike McDaniel, then brought an infusion of speed into their offense, signing running backs Raheem Mostert and Chase Edmonds while trading for All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill. They also retained two of their own on both sides of the ball, placing the franchise tag on tight ed Mike Gesicki while re-signing pass rusher Emmanuel Ogbah. They also brought in a top protector on the offensive line for Tua Tagovailoa, signing the top free agent left tackle in Terron Armstead.

However, the offseason would have felt incomplete if the Dolphins were unable to bring back star cornerback Xavien Howard, who was expecting the team to restructure his deal this offseason after the two sides fell into a dispute last year. Fortunately for the Dolphins and their fans, they won't have to worry about that scenario. On Friday, the Dolphins agreed to a massive extension with Howard, as reported by ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Per Anderson, Howard and the Dolphins have a new five-year deal in place. The star cornerback had three years and $39.3 million remaining on his current contract and will now make $50.6 million in new money in the deal.

That means that Howard, a three-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro, will make $90 million over five years, which gives him an average annual salary of $25.3 million, the highest ever for a corner.

He'll also have the most guaranteed money for a corner in league history.

Howard, 28, appeared in 16 games for Miami this past season, posting 50 combined tackles while intercepting five passes. He earned a solid 70.9 grade from Pro Football Focus.

The Dolphins star now has a huge payday to show for his efforts.
