The Miami Dolphins' search for a new head coach continues now that former head coach Adam Gase has since been fired and hired by the division rival New York Jets. Miami appears to be narrowing their search a bit and centering their attention around New England Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores.

Flores took over defensive play-calling duties after Matt Patricia left the Patriots to become the head coach of the Detroit Lions. The Patriots' defense is normally a quietly strong unit, and this year was no different under Flores. New England was one of the top units in the league in regards to their defense and they normally stick with the same group of guys to gain cohesiveness.

The Patriots only had Flores as their defensive play caller for one season, as he is already being heavily recruited by teams in need of a head coach due to his fantastic season with New England. Although Flores appears to be heading to a different team for 2019, he won't go as far as he may be staying within the division as Gase also did.

This will be Flores' first head-coaching job so it will be interesting to see how he can carry himself as a young up-and-coming head coach if Miami does, in fact, plan to hire him. The Dolphins have a lot of talent and plenty of skilled players, but the Patriots have run the division for a long time. It'll be a tough task for any of the other three teams to dethrone the Patriots.
