It's been a wild season for the Miami Dolphins. After starting the year off to a slow start, the team fought their way back into playoff contention. After falling short, the team fired Brian Flores who then filed a lawsuit against the organization. Rumors are swirling, that Stephen Ross could be forced to sell the team if Miami loses the case.

According to Ian Rapoport, “if the league investigation finds Ross offered Flores $100,000 for each loss during the 2019 NFL season, as Flores alleges, the discipline could be severe, up to and including Ross losing the team by a vote of fellow owners.” So, as it turns out, the Dolphins could be up for sale if Brian Flores wins the lawsuit.

The NFL will have to deliver some kind of harsh penalty against the Dolphins if the tanking allegations are true. Furthermore, if it comes down to a league vote, “owners could, in fact, vote a fellow owner out under the most dire circumstances based on league rules, which would require a three-fourths vote,” per Ian Rapoport.

We'll see how it all plays out. The Dolphins weren't the only team sued in the Brian Flores situation, as the former head coach sued the NFL, along with Denver Broncos and New York Giants. There are a lot of moving pieces in Flores' allegations, but it seems there could be some legitimacy in his accusations.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty and we're just in the early stages of this lawsuit. The league has been put on blast lately and even if Flores loses his lawsuit, some necessary changes could still be made. For now, Stephen Ross remains as the owner of the Dolphins, but don't be shocked if he's forced to sell the team if Miami loses the lawsuit.

It's time to buckle up for a busy offseason, as it could be a bumpy ride for Stephen Ross and the Miami Dolphins.
