While the Miami Dolphins have Tua Tagovailoa tabbed as their starting quarterback, their interest in Deshaun Watson appears to still be super high.

According to ProFootballTalk, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross really wants to trade for Watson.

Per a league source, owner Stephen Ross “really wants” the Texans quarterback. For now, however, the Dolphins and Texans have been unable to reach a deal.

With Watson, a short-list franchise quarterback Ross has long coveted, now available, Ross wants to get him. The Texans, however, continue to have unrealistic expectations. They reportedly want three first-round picks and a pair of second-round picks. While there may be some play in that widely-reported package, the Texans aren’t willing to soften their expectations to account for the uncertainty arising from Watson’s legal situation.

How awkward must this be for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa right now?

He was a first round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Dolphins and sputtered in his rookie season but still appears to have all the talent in the world.

Meanwhile, the Houston Texans appear to have a plan in place for Watson this year that circulates around him being on the roster but also being inactive for games. Watson has been accused by numerous women of sexual assault and those cases have yet to reach a conclusion.

One PFT came out with their report, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald cleaned up what he has been hearing.

One thing that appears to be clear, the Dolphins are trying to make it clear to Tua that they believe in him but at the same time may be trying to work behind the scenes to work out a trade for Watson.
