Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill knows what it's like to compete for a championship. As a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, he won a Super Bowl in 2020 and lost in the big game the following year. So when Hill says that the Miami Dolphins are “behaving like a championship team,” it's worth taking note of it. Now sure, you're bound to hear countless veterans heap this sort of praise on their current team this time of year, but when it comes from a player of Hill's stature, regarding a team with the talent that the Miami Dolphins possess, there's some extra weight to it.

What helps too is that Tyreek Hill has made a subtle alteration to his approach to the upcoming season, prioritizing team success over a hold-out for a new contract, or the pursuit of a record-setting 2,000 yard season.

“My focus is on helping the team win games,” Hill said, via David Furones of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I know it’s gonna come. Whenever it happens. My agent is doing his thing, I just got done having a conversation with him. Conversations are positive right now, so we’re gonna keep it positive. Right now, I’m gonna keep practicing every day trying to help this team win games.”

The Dolphins have won enough in the regular season each of the last two years to clinch back-to-back postseason berths for the first time since since a five year streak ended back in 2001. But winning in the postseason is something that has eluded this franchise since Tyreek Hill was just six years old.

“I want us to win a playoff game,” Hill said, according to Hal Habib of the Palm Beach Post. “I would love that. We’re going to start with that, then moving forward, like continuing to build on that. You know, we’re going to move up to the Super Bowl. So it’s like one step at a time.”

What's next for Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins in 2024?

Tyreek Hill has 401 more receiving yards over the last two seasons than the next closest receiver (CeeDee Lamb) in the NFL does, according to StatMuse. He's been a 1st Team All-Pro selection twice, finished 2nd in Offensive Player of the Year voting last season behind San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, and was recently revealed as the only wide receiver in the NFL to be named to Madden's 99 Club. But again, if records are approached, or even broken by Hill, it wouldn't come as a huge surprise. What would potentially turn some heads was if Miami made a deep run in the postseason.

Whether the Dolphins are tough enough to win ugly in late season games remains to be seen, and until they prove otherwise, they'll likely be discounted in every high stakes game played in December and January. But make no mistake about it… from a talent standpoint alone, the Dolphins do have the look of a championship team.
