In the midst of a highly-dysfunctional franchise and an even more tormented ownership, Kristaps Porzingis, a No. 4 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft has become the glimmer of hope in the city that never sleeps.

Cycle, a culture website unaffiliated with the 7-foot-3 unicorn, posted a giant billboard on the corner off 33rd and 7th, across the street from Madison Square Garden, home of the New York Knicks — asking the team not to trade their prized player.

“Don't trade Porzingis,” the billboard read.

“We are not affiliated with Porzingis. We just want him to stay,” was the message in smaller font.

Team president Phil Jackson was the cause of fan hysteria early in the week, when a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical said he was indeed not excluding Porzingis from any trade talks prior to the NBA Draft.

Jackson doubled down on the report Wednesday, saying that despite how much the team loved him and his talent, he'd have to do whatever is best for the franchise.
