Duke Blue Devils prized forward Zion Williamson is slated to return from a knee injury in time for the ACC Tournament, the team announced on Thursday morning.

The projected No. 1 overall pick will return to action tonight against the Syracuse Orange to kickstart the tournament prior to an expected long run in the NCAA Tournament later this month.

The 6-foot-7, 285-pound forward initially hurt his knee during the opening seconds of a late-season rivalry game against the North Carolina Tar Heels, forced to exit with less than a minute after tearing right through his shoe.

Williamson missed five games after exiting Duke's eventual 88-72 loss to North Carolina on Feb. 20, being out of the court for three weeks, as the medical staff hope to be utmost careful with his recovery.

Since his injury, the Blue Devils have gone 3-3, including a pair of losses to UNC, who they could face again as part of the ACC Tournament.

While there was prior discussion on the possibility of Williamson being shut down for the season, the South Carolina native was quick to turn down that notion and say he's hopeful to rejoin his teammates in competition.

The freshman is averaging a high-octane 21.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.8 blocks — all while shooting an unfathomable 68.3 percent from the field, looking just about as ready to make his next step to the NBA.
