Despite Andy Reid being with the Kansas City Chiefs and coaching one of the league's best quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes, it is one of Reid's former quarterbacks that he believes deserves a gold jacket.

When asked about Donovan McNabb, Reid says that his former quarterback with the Philadelphia Eagles is a Hall of Famer. Reid coached the Eagles from 1999-2012 while McNabb was his quarterback from 1999-2009.

“I'm his biggest fan,” Reid told reporters at training camp. “I was there. I know he belongs there. When you talk about the great players in the National Football League, five championship games, a Super Bowl, all those things.”

“Good football player, man. Great football player and did some things that weren't being done at that particular time in a lot of areas.”

During their time together, the Eagles won 10 playoff games and made a trip to the Super Bowl in 2004. Although, like many teams, they would fall victim to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

The million-dollar question is: does McNabb's stats and accolades warrant a consideration into Canton? McNabb is an interesting evaluation as he was a different quarterback than most in an era where mobile quarterbacks were an outlier.

But above all, McNabb was a talented passer in his own right. Among all-time quarterbacks, McNabb ranks 25th all-time in passing yards and 30th in passing touchdowns.

Comparatively, McNabb ranks ahead of Jim Kelly in passing yards and ahead of Steve Young in passing touchdowns. Both Kelly and Young sport gold jackets and are forever commemorated in Canton.

If it were up to Andy Reid, Donovan McNabb would join Young and Kelly to be revered in the Hall of Fame.
