In the several years, it has become quite well-known that Los Angeles Angels star outfielder Mike Trout is a huge fan of the Philadelphia Eagles.

With that in mind, Trout recently made a prediction for Super Bowl LII stating that he believes the Eagles will edge the defending champion New England Patriots, according to Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com.

There is clearly some bias in play as Trout is hoping that his favorite team can win their first Super Bowl against arguably the best team in the league over the last several years. In fact, the Patriots have now reached the Super Bowl in three out of the last four seasons and eight overall since Tom Brady took over as the starter back in 2001.

Brady has led the way once again with another MVP-caliber season despite now being 40 years old. He has been nothing short of masterful through the two games played in this year's playoffs throwing for 627 yards on a 67 percent completion rate with five touchdown passes and no interceptions while holding a 105.0 passer rating. This includes leading New England back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter in the AFC Championship Game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who arguably possess the best secondary in the league.

That said, the Eagles are coming off a dominating performance against the Minnesota Vikings thrashing them 38-7 in the NFC Championship. Quarterback Nick Foles looked every bit the part of a legitimate starter with a highly efficient performance completing 26 of 33 passes for 352 yards for three touchdowns while holding a 141.4 passer rating. This included tight end Zach Ertz and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery combining for 13 reception on 13 targets for 178 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

All of this could shape up to what could be an extremely entertaining game between two formidable teams on the grandest stage in the sport.
