The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a hard-to-watch loss to the New York Giants last Sunday. To make things even worse, starting quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered an ankle injury in the process. Fortunately, things are starting to look up for the Birds. Hurts told the media Wednesday afternoon that he is ready to play this coming Sunday.

“How do you think it's going to affect you, if at all?” Hurts confidently replied, “It won't.”

This is good news after Philadelphia fans saw Hurts getting his left ankle taped and tended to during the loss last Sunday.

Prior to Week 12, it looked like the Eagles had finally found their wings. They were on a two-game winning streak, defeating the Broncos and the Saints. These were crucial games that really set the tone for the team in the first year of their rebuild.

Last week was a definite road block in the young team's progress, and the first step to fixing a problem is recognizing it. Hurts stepped up on Wednesday and identified the issue as the leader of his football team.

“I want to execute at a very high level, and that comes from everyone being on the same page…I think that's overall a collaborative thing. It's something that we've gotten better at.” He recognized the team's backwards progression and took accountability for his mistakes. “We took a step back last weekend, I took a step back last week.”

Hurts also said that he is looking forward to the Eagles' matchup against the New York Jets. It looks like he will be healthy and ready to go come game time.
