A familiar face is back for the Philadelphia Eagles, albeit he will be playing a new position. Veteran Jason Peters re-signed on a one-year contract with the Eagles, worth up to $6 million with $3 million guaranteed. He signed as an offensive guard following a season-ending injury to starting right guard Brandon Brooks.

Eagles center Jason Kelce shared his opinion on lining up next to Peters in the upcoming season:

“Obviously, we played nine years together at center at left tackle,” Kelce said. “But now being right next to him and ironing out the little details that go with playing next to somebody and what happens with your footwork and how you’re going to hit a specific block and what you’re thinking on this play, how you’re thinking of attacking this, these are all the things that we’re going to continue to iron out throughout camp here. It’s been actually a really engaging and fun experience for both JP and I.”

Jason Peters is no stranger to position changes on the gridiron. Originally recruited as a defensive tackle out of high school, he spent his freshman campaign as a reserve defensive lineman for the Arkansas Razorbacks. He was then moved to the tight end spot in his sophomore year in college.

Peters was then picked up by the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2004 and learned to play offensive tackle under the tutelage of offensive line coach Jim McNally. He spent five years in New York before packing his bags to Philadelphia in 2009.

He was a four-time second-team All-Pro member, two-time first-team All-Pro member, nine-time Pro Bowler, and a Super Bowl LII champion thus far. He hopes to continue making more success with the Eagles in his new position at guard in the upcoming season.
