It's been a struggle for the Philadelphia Eagles this year as they try to pile up wins to climb back into the race in the NFC East. It will get a bit tougher for the next stretch as they have put running back Miles Sanders on injured reserve.

Per Ian Rapoport, the Eagles running back could return in three weeks.

Sanders is dealing with an ankle injury, as noted by Rapoport but should be back relatively quickly after his brief stint on injured reserve.

It's been a peculiar year for Sanders as Eagles fans have clamored for the shifty back to get more touches within the offense and it has yet to completely manifest into that. Through seven games, Sanders has still not found the end zone for Philadelphia.

With Sanders out, the Eagles are expected to implement rookie back Kenneth Gainwell a lot more. Gainwell has shown the ability to be as dynamic out of the backfield running as he is receiving. The fifth-round pick out of Memphis should now see added touches with the absence of Sanders.

The Eagles will look to get back on the right track in Week 8 when they hit the road to take on the Detroit Lions. Detroit remains the only team in the NFL without a win this season despite coming extremely close on multiple occasions. It won't be a chip-shot for Philly but is more than winnable even without Sanders.
