Ryan Kerrigan is moving on to the next chapter of his NFL career, but he's not going anywhere outside the NFC East. After saying goodbye to the Washington Football Team, the veteran defensive end is now on his way to suiting up for a former rival, as he's reported to be signing with the Philadelphia Eagles, per Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network.

It will take some time for Washington fans to get used to seeing Ryan Kerrigan line up for another team, let alone wearing a different thread in the NFL.

Kerrigan spent the first 10 years of his pro career with Washington, and during that time, he built a memorable run in the nation's capital. He finished his stint with Washington as the franchise's all-time leader in sacks with 95.5 while getting four Pro Bowl appearances.

Kerrigan bid his farewell to Washington with a heartfelt message posted on his Instagram account Sunday night. At the time, it sounded as though he was ready to hang his cleats up, but apparently, he was just about to make a U-turn back to NFL action.

In Kerrigan's last season with the Washington Football Team, he appeared in 16 games but only had 5.5 sacks to go with 17 total tackles.

The Eagles are hoping that Kerrigan could recapture even a fraction of his old form back once he's lining up for them, beginning in the 2021 NFL season. He joins a pass rush that was mostly responsible for the Eagles being fourth in the league in sacks (48) and fourth in opponents' pass attempts per contest (33.1).
