The Philadelphia Eagles are just a few months removed from winning their first Super Bowl. Therefore, it's obvious they've been riding an all-time high coming off, arguably, their biggest achievement. This has set up what will be a special moment for the team on Thursday night that saw them receive their championship rings.

According to Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk, these rings had several unique features to them that included a tribute to the “Philly Special” trick play in the first half of the game that resulted in a monumental touchdown in the contest.

The rings have “a waterfall of 127 diamonds” that represent the combined roster numbers of the three players to touch the football in the trick play that resulted in a touchdown at the end of the first half — Trey Burton‘s No. 88, Corey Clement‘s No. 30 and Nick Foles‘ No. 9.

Super Bowl Ring, Eagles

This is a one-of-kind feature to the Super Bowl ring that is a bit similar to the New England Patriots putting 283 diamonds in their own rings for their Super Bowl 51 win that saw them overcome a 28-3 deficit against the Atlanta Falcons. This just gives a special connection, especially for those three key players involved in that memorable play.

It was gutsy play call at the end of the first half that caught the Patriots off guard while providing the Eagles with a huge touchdown to help them come out on top. Without that play, it could be argued that New England could have taken over in the second half with what could have become an insurmountable deficit given the momentum they played with during the final two quarters.

Instead, it was a play that helped the Eagles reach the ultimate goal by finally hoisting the Vince Lombardi trophy for the first time in franchise history. All in all, this feature on the Super Bowl ring just adds another special meaning and importance to what the team accomplished.
