The Philadelphia Eagles have traded for Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift during the NFL Draft on Saturday. The Lions will receive a 2025 fourth-round pick, with the teams also swapping seventh-rounders, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The big move continues Eagles general manager Howie Roseman's extremely active weekend in Kansas City, as well as an apparent Georgia Bulldogs craze that will be invading Lincoln Financial Field this season. The speculation leading into the draft was that the team had their eyes on star Texas running back Bijan Robinson with the No. 10 overall selection, but he went to the Falcons at No. 8.

The Eagles instead moved up one spot to grab superbly talented yet controversial Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter. Roseman was not heading back home without a back, though, doing his darnedest to have his cake and eat it too. Swift has had injury problems, but Philly's elite offensive line should give the 24-year-old plenty of space and time out of the backfield when he is on the field.

Swift, a dual-threat former second-round pick, seemed on the cusp of stardom these last couple of seasons before ankle and shoulder injuries hampered his progression last season. When he did return, he took a backseat to Jamaal Williams. Once the Lions selected speedster Jahmyr Gibbs with the No. 12 pick Thursday night, D'Andre Swift's time in Motown was severely numbered.

He is only two years removed from an 1,000-yard year from scrimmage and is still in that prime running back window for success. There may not be a more ideal place than Philadelphia for Swift to fulfill his star potential.
