There have been some rumors that the Philadelphia Eagles are looking for some running back and they might want to make a trade but Wendell Smallwood doesn't think that is something the team needs to do.

“I'm extremely confident. I know what we have in that room I know how hard we work and know how hard we compete,” Smallwood said via 247 Sports. “I know we're guys you don't count out and if you do, then you all will be mistaken. I have the confidence in every guy in our (running back) room and every guy (in there) believes in me.

“We believe we're the best, no matter who's in that room. We don't need anything. We're not waiting for anything and we're not looking for anything to boost us. We know we can get the job done.”

The Eagles lost starting running back Jay Ajayi to an ACL injury but so far Smallwood and Corey Clement have filled in for him. Against the New York Giants Smallwood had 18 attempts for 51 yards. Clement added 11 attempts for 43 yards and a touchdown.

These two guys aren't going to be rushing for 150 yards a game but combined they can be a serviceable one-two punch. The question now is do the Eagles think those two guys can do enough to take the Eagles where they want to go or will the Eagles trade for a starting running back for the second year in a row.

Last year they traded with the Miami Dolphins for Ajayi. If the decision was up to Smallwood, he would roll with the crew they have now.
