Another high-profile quarterback is expected to be on the move once more, as the Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly close to trading away Carson Wentz.
Two unnamed NFL personnel sources close to the situation reportedly confirmed this to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer on Friday.
But the Eagles won't make it easy for suitors of the 28-year-old signal-caller since the team has placed a high asking price for his services. Apart from the massive haul that other teams must offer, they must also prepare to take on Wentz's large deal which exceeds $40 million in guaranteed money.
Several NFL teams are already on the top of the Wentz situation, including squads in dire need of a quarterback like the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Carolina Panthers, and the Washington Football Team. As of the moment, the Colts are reportedly frontrunners in any imminent deal.
Earlier, the Detroit Lions sent Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in a blockbuster deal for Jared Groff. It seems inevitable that Wentz will be the next big name to change jerseys next season. Wentz, who led the team to a championship in Super Bowl LII, will 5always be a respected figure in the City of Brotherly Love. However, it's apparent that the Eagles are handing over the keys to their offense to Jalen Hurts, making Wentz the odd man out.
In what could be his final season in Philadelphia, Wentz led the league in interceptions thrown (15), total turnovers (19), and sacks taken (50) in 12 games. The Eagles missed the playoffs after a 4-11 slate.
