Instead of getting booted off of IMAX screens early, like what happened to Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One when Oppenheimer came out, the next in the series is securing its IMAX spot.

Paramount will have access to IMAX screens after delaying the release of Dead Reckoning Part Two from June 28, 2024, to May 23, 2025, due to the strikes, Deadline said.

Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two on IMAX

The Tom Cruise blockbuster series is bound to look great on the giant IMAX screen, and it can breathe easy knowing it has a home.

Plus, the movie lands on Memorial Day weekend, which is huge for the actor. His hit, Tom Gun: Maverick, launched on the holiday weekend and became the biggest money maker, earning $1.49 billion.

Mission Impossible will get a three-week run in IMAX. It's great news also, considering the movie was shot with IMAX digital cameras for the big format.

Regarding Universal's Oppenheimer, it had an exclusive three-week run when it was released. According to Slash Film, it was also shot entirely in a large format, as the new Dead Reckoning will be.

When it came out, Mission Impossible was out at IMAX, so, to the disappointment of Paramount, it only had a one-week run. M.I. never did get IMAX screens back after the three weeks because “due to popular demand,” Oppenheimer was extended on IMAX.

It sounds like Paramount has learned its lesson and is securing its spot with Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part Two. Adding in Memorial Day weekend to boot, Tom Cruise is bound to have a hit on the giant screens when it debuts.
