Chris Pratt plays Star-Lord in the MCU Guardians of the Galaxy series. However, Pratt is also open to joining James Gunn's DCU.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Pratt seemed open to starring in both superhero franchises. He did concede that a return to the MCU makes more sense as of right now.

“Well, it [would] probably make more sense that I would be Star-Lord again,” Pratt said. “But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there's something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let's do both. I think it's 100% both.”

Who Pratt would play in the DCU is unknown. As he noted, though, Gunn is the head of creative with Peter Safran. Surely, if both parties came to an agreement, a role could be found for Pratt.

Since 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt has played Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the MCU. He would go on to lead two more Guardians of the Galaxy films, which were both commercially successful. Additionally, Pratt appeared in other MCU adventures such as Avengers films like Infinity War and Endgame and Thor: Love and Thunder.

At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Quill hands over the reins to Rocket (Bradley Cooper). This seemingly ended his time with the titular team. He heads back to Earth to reconnect with his grandfather. However, the tease in the credits states that he will be back at some point.

It's unclear if Pratt's Peter Quill will return in a fourth Guardians of the Galaxy film or another team-up film like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Outside of the MCU, Chris Pratt is known for his roles in the Jurassic World and Super Mario Bros. franchises. Pratt has also starred in The Lego Movie, Her, Passengers, and Onward. He first gained notoriety for starring as Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation.

Coming up, Pratt will voice the title character in The Garfield Movie. This comes after he voiced Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, one of the highest-grossing films of the year. It made over $1.3 billion worldwide during its theatrical run. Sony is hoping for similar success with Garfield.

The DCU

In between the second and third Guardians of the Galaxy films, the then-DCEU gave Gunn a trial run when he directed The Suicide Squad. Gunn was then handed the reins to develop an HBO spin-off for John Cena's Peacemaker.

He would subsequently get handed the keys to the car when it was announced that he would become the co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Films with Peter Safran. This ended the DCEU and the DCU will now launch with Creature Commandos on the small screen and Superman, which Gunn will write and direct, on the big screen.

This comes after James Gunn wrote and directed the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. As noted, all three films were commercial successes for the MCU, grossing nearly $2.5 billion cumulatively. Whatever he did worked, and his former star Pratt would clearly love to get in on what he's cooking in the DCU.
