Following a tough outing against Germany on Saturday, Boris Diaw and the French national team were left with nothing but disappointment after making a quick exit despite being one of the favorites to take the EuroBasket title away from Spain.

France was merely 3-2 during group play, losing to Goran Dragic and an undefeated Slovenia earlier in the week before Diaw faced a mouthful of Daniel Theis and his team-leading 22 points in an 84-81 defeat and consequent elimination from the tournament.

Only two days after the painful loss, the veteran forward took to Instagram to address the fans.

“It was a tough competition, a lot of disappointment in the way we played, WE as a team take full responsibility for it,” Diaw's caption read. “Now it's time to take pride in bouncing back and redeem ourselves in the near future.”

Now that Tony Parker is retired from the national team, France just failed to click despite of NBA talents like Evan Fournier, Joffrey Lauvergne, and Kevin Seraphin being in the roster.

Diaw had a well-rounded final outing, scoring 15 points, pulling down nine rebounds, and dishing out six assists as the captain and elder statesman of this team, but it proved a whisker shy of topping a motivated German squad that was laser-focused from the free-throw line, converting in 19 of their 21 attempts at the stripe.
