The Atlanta Falcons are finally in a position to start building a solid foundation for the roster. With Julio Jones and Matt Ryan out of the picture, this franchise has officially entered a new era. It'll be interesting to see how this team fairs, but there will be opportunities for lesser-known players. We take a look at a rookie sleeper who could make an impact for the Falcons in the 2022 NFL season.

Atlanta acquired multiple rookies who will have a chance to make some noise in the upcoming season. All eyes will be on Drake London and Arnold Ebiketie, as each of them should be immediate starters on the roster. Additionally, Desmond Ridder is in a position where he could be utilized sooner, rather than later depending on Marcus Mariota's production as the starting quarterback.

However, there is one rookie who is in a unique situation. He was taken in the latter portion of the NFL Draft, but due to the lack of talent in the backfield, he may receive carries throughout the season. It'll be interesting to see how training camp plays out, as this rookie could end up being a sneaky good running back for the Falcons.

With that said, here is our Falcons rookie sleeper who could make an impact in the 2022 NFL season.

Falcons Rookie Sleeper for 2022 NFL Season

Tyler Allgeier

The fifth-round rookie finds himself in a favorable situation in Atlanta. It'll be interesting to see what Tyler Allgeier can do throughout the offseason. The Falcons recently released Mike Davis, creating an opportunity for a new running back to take charge. If Allgeier can impress the coaching staff, he could have a legitimate role in this offense.

It'll take some work for him to win the job though. Cordarrelle Patterson is expected to play a unique hybrid role while Damien Williams is a decent option as well. It won't be easy for Allgeier to win the starting job, especially considering he is a rookie who was selected late. Regardless, there is a real chance he splits carries in the upcoming season, especially if Williams proves to be less than ideal for the Falcons' roster.

The former BYU running back hasd strung together two solid seasons of production before entering the league. In his final two years in college, Allgeier totaled 2,731 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns. He was the driving force for the BYU offense, which bodes well for his chances in the NFL. If he can bring that level of production to the professional level, the Falcons will gladly give Tyler Allgeier the playing time he deserves.

Another reason why we might see this young prospect make an impact for the Falcons is how Cordarrelle Patterson is utilized in the offense. Considering he lines up at receiver and running back, means someone is going to need to fill in the running back role periodically. That means Allgeier only needs to worry about Damien Williams, as the two of them will battle it out for the backup role.

We'll see how Tyler Allgeier fits in the Falcons' system. He has some work to do to carve out a role. However, based on his production in college and Atlanta's backfield situation, Allgeier is in a position to make an impact in his rookie campaign. Keep an eye on this kid throughout training camp, as there is a real chance he wins the main backup role entering the regular season.
