Count Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank among those who were happy to see the New Orleans Saints go down against the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Of course, Blank had some extra incentive to root against the NFC South division-rival Saints, as the Super Bowl will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Feb. 3.

Afterward, Blank told Jeff Schultz of The Athletic that he was “smiling” after the Rams came away with a 26-23 win:

“I am smiling,” Arthur Blank said via text message. “It was a hard fought game, and the Saints’ fans made a big difference early on — but the Rams’ defense played strong from the 1st Q on.”

Blank then made sure to add this:

“We welcome the best teams — period.”

But was Blank just being politically correct?

“Correct.”

Gotta love an owner who is that passionate about his team.

The Falcons' Twitter account then got in on the fun, congratulating the Rams on their overtime victory:

The NFC South has certainly had its fair share of Super Bowl representatives over the years, as every team in the division has been in the Super Bowl at least once since the 2002-03 campaign.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won it all that first season, and the following year, the Carolina Panthers made the Super Bowl, only to lose to the New England Patriots. The Saints then won the championship during the 2009-10 campaign, and in February 2016, the Panthers returned to the Super Bowl, falling to the Denver Broncos.

Most recently, the Falcons represented the NFC South in the big game, famously blowing a 28-3 lead against the Patriots in February 2017.

The Rams will battle the Pats in Atlanta in two weeks.
