The Atlanta Falcons are pumped for the 2019 season. At least, if you believe their Twitter feed. A bunch of teams did social media gimmicks for the release of their schedules yesterday, and the Falcons might've had the best one.

The team had an epic Game of Thrones themed release in video posted to their account. It seems to have gone over well with fans, judging by the 11,000 retweets and nearly 40,000 likes that it racked up.

The video takes viewers on a tour of all the stadiums the Falcons will visit this season, complete with mascots of opposing teams. The new season of Game of Thrones debuted on Sunday, so the timing worked out nicely.

Falcons fans are hoping the actual on-field product can be as successful as the social media team is. 2019 is a big year for Atlanta, after they've declined each of the past couple of seasons. The Falcons made the Super Bowl in 2016, then won a playoff game in 2017, then failed to make the playoffs altogether in 2018.

Their 2018 campaign was derailed by injuries, and they ended up firing both coordinators after the season. Dan Quinn hired former Tampa Bay Buccaneeers coach Dirk Koetter to be his offensive coordinator after the season, and Quinn will be coaching for his job in 2019.

There was some speculation that Quinn was on the hot seat last year, but owner Arthur Blank ultimately quashed those rumors. With another disappointing season, Quinn almost certainly won't be so lucky once again. The stakes are incredibly high this season, but the schedule release was a nice lighthearted distraction from all that.
