The NFL has made a concerted effort to expand its fan base around the globe in recent seasons. To continue their efforts, the Atlanta Falcons will be home for an international game in 2020.

Of course, like the other 31 teams in the NFL, the Falcons will have eight home games in the 2020 season. But one of those home games will take place outside of the United States. As of this moment, it is uncertain exactly where Atlanta will be playing that home contest.

In addition, it is undecided who their opponent will be in the international contest. The announcement will definitely have mixed reviews from the die-hard fans in Atlanta.

Along with the Falcons, the Miami Dolphins are set to host an international game in 2020. At the same time, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be playing at least one game in London for the eighth consecutive season next year.

Currently, Atlanta's home opponents for 2020 will be the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders, and the other three teams in the NFC South. The final home opponent will be an NFC West team that finishes at the same spot in the division as the Falcons.

It goes without saying that this season hasn't gone as planned for the Falcons. Despite all of the team's offensive weapons, Atlanta has a 2-7 record and is in last place in the NFC South.

With the team losing games, their revenue might be taking a slight hit with fewer fans coming to games. Therefore, the decision to host an international game could be a way for Arthur Blank to make some of that money back.
