The Atlanta Falcons were able to pull a stunning upset against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8, improving their overall record to 2-6 for the season.

It came with a heavy price though, with Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley sustaining an ankle injury that forced him to exit the game. It's been reported, however, that Ridley's injury may not be as serious as it appeared, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Ridley exited the contest against the Lions after landing awkwardly following a tackle that forced his feet to slightly coil together. While he'll likely miss Week 9 against the Denver Broncos, he should be cleared to play afterwards.

The University of Alabama standout has played exceptional leading up to his injury. He's caught 63.2 percent of his passes for 657 yards, which almost surpasses his entire reception yardage for the 2019 season (866). He's also been dependable in the end zone, totaling six touchdowns for the season.

The Falcons haven't been able to muster up a lot of productivity in what's already turning into a landslide margin in the NFC South division. Being out their No. 1 wideout could pose a problem for Matt Ryan, who's had a productive season despite their record. It'll take vintage-like performances from both Ryan and Julio Jones to compete again on Sunday with the chance of obtaining their third win of the season.

They'll also have to rely on their defense to stretch the game out if necessary. They were able to hamper Teddy Bridgewater's success on last Sunday, causing him to throw for fewer than 200 yards (176), which is the first of any sluggish performance from him this season in terms of yards thrown.
