The Atlanta Falcons have generated plenty of hype with their offseason additions. However, wide receiver Calvin Ridley is looking forward to showing why he is the big ticket in the 2020 NFL season.

Ridley has done a stellar job of establishing himself as a bonafide complementary option to wide receiver Julio Jones in the passing game. According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he is determined to prove his status as a 1,000-yard receiver:

“I’ve always had confidence,” Ridley said. “I just think that football has really slowed down for me a lot in the NFL. I ain’t going to lie, I’m real hungry to show people that I’m easily a 1,000-yard receiver. Easily and even better.

Ridley added that he is confident in his ability to contribute in any fashion for Atlanta.

“I think that’s what it is for me. I’m always confident in myself. I’m just really hungry and want to help the team win as much as I can.”

It is certainly encouraging to see Ridley so optimistic about his prospects this upcoming season. Despite the restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it seems this did not deter his plans to make a significant jump this offseason.

Calvin Ridley has emerged as quite a touchdown maven during his first two seasons by reaching the end zone 17 times already. However, he has struggled to get out of the 60-reception, 800-yard range in that span as well. Although the presence of Jones and now running back Todd Gurley may put a cap on his opportunities, there should be more than enough looks from quarterback Matt Ryan to help him reach his milestone.
