The Atlanta Falcons came into the 2018 NFL season looking like a serious contender in the NFC. After a few years of being serious contenders and a Super Bowl appearance, the Falcons have gotten off to an incredibly slow start. There have been quite a few injuries, but even with the injuries the slow start has surprised quite a few within the organization.

Arthur Blank, the owner of the Falcons, is one of those that is baffled by Atlanta's 1-4 start. He opened up with his thoughts on the state of the team in an interview with AJC.com.

“We can’t erase the last five games. We have to make adjustments. That’s all you can do. Start out next week and act like it’s 0-0. Nobody wants to hear any excuses. Nobody wants to hear any stories. That’s the nature of this business.”

Following the Falcons' Week 5 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers, quite a few players were visibly frustrated. It didn't help that the media was fishing for someone to point blame at others.

Head coach Dan Quinn was asked by the media if he thought the Falcons were still a good football team. He was also asked if the team's defense can still get better with all the injuries they have suffered.

“I do. I stand by that. I am. In some cases, there’s some on the job training, and that’s to be expected. But our entire team is not decimated.”

Atlanta still has plenty of talent left on their team to turn things around. Matt Ryan is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL and Julio Jones is still one of the elite wide receivers in the game.

Defensively, the Falcons will need some players to step up. They have lost some key players in Keanu Neal, Ricardo Allen, and Andy Levitre. There are also other players who are banged up but will return at some point this season.

There is still hope for the Falcons, but everything will start with finding a way to defeat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6. If they can pull off a win and get some momentum, this team is more than capable of righting the ship and getting back on track.
