Breaking news out of the Peach State: the Atlanta Falcons plan to get Bijan Robinson the ball. I repeat, the Falcons will try to get Bijan Robinson the ball.

Robinson is in line to have a monster sophomore season under new head coach Raheem Morris. After 1,463 yards from scrimmage as a rookie, the young running back is bound to take another step and assert himself as a Pro Bowler and one of the best skill players in all of football. His usage in the offense is about to take another step up.

Morris didn’t mince words: he's going to get his star playmaker the ball. “In the simplest form you can put it, get the ball to Bijan as much as possible in the most ideal situations as possible,” Morris said, according to Terrin Waack of the Falcons' website.

With a massive quarterback upgrade in Kirk Cousins making the passing game more viable, and thus taking more pressure off the ground game, the Falcons are setting themselves up to unlock Robinson even more.

Falcons will look to get Bijan Robinson the ball often, Raheem Morris says

Admittedly, some of the talk about Robinson's lack of usage is overblown. His 272 touches led the Falcons last season and ranked 12th in the entire NFL. Only the workhorse running backs of the league and other players in at least their second seasons had more. That’s a plenty good workload for a rookie.

The Falcons not getting Robinson the ball enough stemmed from Arthur Smith being so adamant about not using Robinson in key spots. He defended his coaching decisions but, in the end, nothing explained why the star running back and the obvious top playmaker on the team didn’t get as many looks as he could have. Robinson was the rare RB to be drafted early in the first round so it only made sense that Atlanta would go to him as often as possible.

Regardless, Robinson is now set to be the centerpiece of the offense that features Cousins, Kyle Pitts, Drake London, Darnell Mooney, Rondale Moore and more. The Falcons could contend for the NFC South championship with their revamped offense.
