Matt Ryan is beginning to have his wide receiving corps thinned out due to injuries in Week 3 versus the Chicago Bears. While the Atlanta Falcons hold a lead over the Bears, Russell Gage has been ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Gage suffered a concussion after taking a hit to the head versus the Bears. After being checked on the sidelined by the medical staff, it is determined that Gage won't return to the game against Chicago.

The loss of Gage looms large for the Falcons as the offense is already without Julio Jones on Sunday. Despite making a herculean effort to play in Week 3, Jones was unable to suit up for Atlanta due to a lingering hamstring issue.

In the first few weeks of the seasons, Gage has been a pleasant surprise in Atlanta's passing attack. While Jones and Calvin Ridley have been remarkable, Gage has been a stellar complimentary piece for the Falcons.

Through the first two weeks, Gage compiled 15 receptions for 160 yards and one touchdown. During Atlanta's Week 1 bout with the Seattle Seahawks, Gage had nine receptions for 114 yards, giving the Falcons three 100-yard receivers in the loss to Seattle.

Luckily for the Falcons, they hold a double-digit lead over the Bears on Sunday, allowing them to run the clock out with Todd Gurley and the running game. Still, Gage's injury status will be worth monitoring in the coming days. At the least, he will need to be cleared from the league's concussion protocol if he is going to return in Week 4.
