Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has plenty of experience scheming for new Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley. After all, the two were on opposite sides of an NFC West rivalry for the past couple years, with Gurley anchoring the backfield for the Los Angeles Rams.

Carroll spoke highly of Gurley on Wednesday, praising his skill set while also alluding to Gurley's mental makeup:

“He's been an incredible performer,” Carroll said, via Vaughn McClure of ESPN. He's been a dominant factor in the Rams organization for years. His overall impact — running game, passing game, blocking — he can do everything. Fantastic competitor, too.”

The Seahawks head coach added the Atlanta Falcons should feel “fortunate” to have Gurley on the team.

Positive reinforcement was hardly present in Gurley's case this offseason. The Rams cut the former All-Pro mostly to save money on the cap, any questions regarding Gurley's knee seemed to have quite the negative impact on his value.

But Gurley managed to find a home in Atlanta, as the Falcons inked him to a one-year deal. Indeed, Gurley also appears to be giving reason for optimism ahead of Week 1.

The 26-year-old's game speed appears to be present, and Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter made it clear the team would look to exploit Gurley's abilities as a pass-catcher this year.

Gurley should have plenty of opportunities to thrive as the feature back, and it no longer appears he will face extra limitations ahead of the 2020 season.

The former Georgia Bulldog is still sure to have any number doubters, though Carroll is certainly not one of them.
