Fanbyte reports that a new Final Fantasy will be revealed this June during E3 2021. This game will be completely different from what most FF games are like. Reportedly, Team Ninja of Nioh fame heads the development of the game. Furthermore, the game's going to be a souls-like Final Fantasy game. Rumors suggest that the game will be called Final Fantasy Origins.

Team Ninja previously worked with Square Enix for their Dissidia FF NT title. The studio also developed Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden games.

The game appears to be a PC and PS5 exclusive. This adds to the number of Square Enix games launching exclusively for consoles on a PlayStation. FF7 Intergrade and FFXVI will both come out on the PS5.

We can expect more details about Final Fantasy Origins to come out during Square Enix's E3 presentation. We'll get clarifications on whether or not the game will be related to any other of the FF games. It's reportedly set in the same universe as FFI, which should take place prior to that game's events, hence the title. Square Enix might also release an alpha demo this Summer to solicit feedback from players.

As with any leak or rumor, everything so far needs to be taken with a grain of salt. A lot can still change between now and the game's reveal.
