The Formula 1 British Grand Prix went awry the moment it started. Just a few seconds after the race started, Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu and George Russell were involved in a terrifying crash. While Russell was relatively unharmed, it was Zhou that had fans worried, as his car careened off the track while it was upside-down. (via Twitter)

Immediately, medical professionals stormed the racetrack to check on the Formula 1 driver. It was a tense moment for fans, as no one knew if Zhou was okay after the crash. Thankfully, though, he was retrieved successfully from the crash. Alfa Romeo also reported that their driver was okay, although he was stretchered off as a precaution. (via PlanetF1)

The red flag was waved immediately after this incident, and for good reason. Zhou and Russell's crash also took out several F1 racers involved. In fact, it was reported shortly after the crash that Alexander Albon was also taken to the medical tent to be attended to. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt in an incident that could've taken the life of a person.

The British Grand Prix featured some of the most prestigious F1 racers of today. This includes Russell, Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel. It's a shame that this big event was marred by one of the scariest crashes of 2022.

No word has been given yet about a potential restart of the race. Understandably, the concern right now is not about the Grand Prix, but the safety of Zhou Guanyu and the other F1 participants.
