Gable Steveson is a popular man after competing in the Olympics this past summer. The heavyweight has been seen everywhere there are combat sports including UFC, WWE, PFL, and Bellator among others.

He has a plethora of options for what's next and he's taking his time before making a decision. It seems he is leaning towards a career in pro-wrestling before making the switch to MMA.

Sound familiar? That's because Brock Lesnar did the same thing before him. Lesnar came from a wrestling background before making the switch to pro-wrestling, then he switched sports again when he joined the UFC and competed in MMA.

Gable Steveson and Brock Lesnar have become fast friends, but that wasn't always the case. Their first meeting started a little rough for the Olympic gold medalist.

“I was scared as hell of him,” Steveson said on The MMA Hour (transcribed by Alex Lee). “Dude came up and he’s about 6-3, 6-4, he’s put together and he was actually ripped. I was like, he’s bigger than I thought, this was the first time I’d seen him in person. But honestly, it’s cool to have that mentor, that role model in my life, and have him do everything that I want to do in such a dominating fashion, it’s cool because he can tell me how he did it and things I can do better.

“But when I first saw him, I was like, come on now. You want me to wrestle you right now? But as the time went on and we got closer and got cooler, it was just an easier factor now.”
