In all the craziness of the 2021 off-season, players aren't the only ones getting shuffled around. Cloud9 (C9) are making huge changes to their coaching staff as they look to reestablish themselves at the pinnacle of League of Legends in North America. After revamping their LCS roster, C9 has now officially parted ways with head coach Alfonso “mithy” Aguirre Rodriguez and assistant coach Kim “Reignover” Yeujin. Academy head coach Jonathan “Westrice” Nguyen has also vacated his position.

For now, this leaves assistant coaches Maxwell “Max” Waldo and Marius “Veigar v2” Aune on the coaching staff for C9's main squad. However, an announcement for the new head coach, and likely other coaching staff as well, is imminent in the coming days. Last week, C9 owner Jack Etienne revealed in The 9s with MonteCristo that he was “just waiting for [the coach's] signature”.

Despite that, it's been pretty much radio silence, leaving fans speculating as to who might take over the reins at Cloud9. Some of the community have pointed to LS, who has denied this on his stream a couple of times. Many fans are expecting, or hoping, it will be someone from the LCK, especially since C9 added Korean players Park “Summit” Woo-tae, Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol, and Kim “Winsome” Dong-keon to fill its top and bot positions.

In addition, Jack claimed that the org is building a strong coaching infrastructure that is second to none in the region. He believes this will be key to retaking the throne in the LCS and putting up stronger showings internationally. C9 fans will be much awaiting this new-look coaching staff, hoping that they can guide their team to build synergy despite the language barriers, play to their strengths, and display solid yet exciting performances to emerge victorious in 2022.
