Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka teased his fans with an announcement that he'll “be back around Dota.” However, his announcement just fell short of what his fans actually wanted him to say.
JERAX TEASES FANS, SAYS HE'S RETURNING TO DOTA 2
JerAx is one of the living legends of Dota 2. He won two The International titles in two consecutive years with his former team, OG. However, fans immediately lost their idol when he announced his retirement from competitive Dota 2 in 2019. In his retirement letter, JerAx shared his reason why he decided to leave behind the game. “I have no willingness nor passion to play Dota 2 anymore,” he wrote. “I have trouble fitting myself into my competitor’s shoes.”
That's why fans became ecstatic when he tweeted that he's coming back to Dota. The timing is almost too perfect, especially since OG has just recently parted ways with another player, MidOne. However, the excitement immediately died down as he also clarified that he's not returning to competitive play. “I'm excited to announce that I'll be back around Dota,” he writes. “I won't be playing competitively, which may disappoint some of you.”
Hey! It's been a while. I'm excited to announce that I'll be back around dota. I won't be playing competitively, which may disappoint some of you. I'll go further into details on my stream on 27th 12pm cet+1. I was thinking of playing the tutorial, might need it.
See you there!

Meanwhile, he made a reference to the community-built tutorial mode that's currently in the works. The tutorial mode, which is being voiced by Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner, successfully raised $25,000 to springboard the project. The tutorial aims to help newbies learn the game and replace the ineffective tutorial that the game currently has. “I was thinking of playing the tutorial,” says Vainikka, somewhat jokingly. “Might need it.”
For those interested in learning more about his return, JerAx says he'll share more details in one of his live streams. “I'll go further into details on my stream on 27th 12 PM CET+1.” That's 4 AM Pacific Standard Time. You can watch his live streams on his Twitch channel, JerAxai. Apart from Dota 2, the former Dota 2 pro player also live streams VALORANT, in which he has also shown his skills, playing the game using a pen tablet.
