Squanch Games will have their own “The Outer Worlds” like game but with more zaniness called High on Life.

Justin Roiland isn't a stranger to video games, as his studio Squanch Games has made Rick and Morty extended universe titles before. But the studio's newly-announced game from the Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase yesterday, a zany sci-fi fantasy game called High on Life, looks like the studio's first foray into Double-A game development territory.

The game looks like The Outer Worlds, except it takes itself a little less seriously, and every gun you own appears to be a version of Skippy from Cyberpunk 2077 or Bane from Borderlands 2. If you know, then you've seen tough times. In with the game is the signature self-deprecating and irreverent humor that Justin Roiland is known for – complete with some familiar voice acting from Rick and Morty. While we've seen less about the game's story and more gameplay, we're sure that the game will also dip into the absurd and sometimes go hyperbolic. This is a game that not a lot of us expected, but something we'd take and play.

In the trailer, it reveals that your player character is a bounty hunter, at least that's what your talking gun tells you. You're also supposedly saving other humans from becoming an alien drug that makes everyone addicted to it real bad – and hence you'll have to face an alien drug cartel. There are also a lot of absurd and comical events in the game trailer, a good mix of comic and slapstick humor, that Rick and Morty fans will surely enjoy.

The game will be coming out on both PC and Xbox consoles in October 2022.
