Just Cause is one of those franchises that have a strong fan community that oddly still keeps itself niche. Still, the 15-year-old franchise continues to be strong. With the turn of the decade, Square Enix decides it's time for the series to enter a new era. Just Cause Mobile, a game that has been in development since late last year, made itself known to a wider audience during Square Enix Presents earlier today. The new mobile game will not be developed by Avalanche Studios. Instead, a new team internal to Square Enix will be spearheading the game.
Article Continues BelowJust Cause Mobile will feature 30-player competitive multiplayer with seemingly battle royale game elements. Just like in other Just Cause games, this one will feature unique movement systems like parachuting, wingsuit gliding, and grapple hooking. It's a top-down shooter that makes it a bit different compared to other battle royale games. This makes it a great complement to the existing library of battle royale games we have today.
Meanwhile, the game will also feature a single-player campaign, starring a brand-new protagonist that players will create. Up to four players can also join together for co-op missions, giving the game some needed depth that most other multiplayer mobile titles don't have. Just Cause Mobile will be free to play, but will also offer in-app purchases of some kind.
Square Enix reassured fans that they are not abandoning the main series. They also calmed down fans who fear that this path will lead to Just Cause becoming exclusively for mobile. While Square Enix doesn't have anything to share yet on Just Cause 4's sequel, they reassured fans that they are committed as ever in the future of the franchise.
