New by game publisher Team 17 and indie dev team Small Impact Games comes a gritty take on the looter shooter genre with their newest title called Marauders. Set in the fictional 1990s where mankind has fled to space after the Great War, Marauders is a tactical FPS with a gritty “diesel-punk” aesthetic where players will be tasked with raiding onto large spaceships, gunning down any enemy that stands in your way in order to claim bountiful amounts of loot, just before making a grand escape.

The gameplay also puts a lot of emphasis on navigating through the cosmos, as players will also have to take control of upgradeable spaceships and engage in explosive sci-fi dogfights. Marauders will also allow players to team up with up to three other friends in order to compete against live opponents or AI-controlled bots.

Marauders has been in development for well over a year, with many testers that were able to try out the pre-alpha version have gone on to describe the game as “Escape from Tarkov but in Space”. as the gameplay demands the player's full attention and focus, as one small mistake could be fatal. All of this creates a unique gameplay loop that has rarely been seen within the tactical FPS genre.

While Team17 has been developing and publishing games for well over two decades, Small Impact Games is still a very young and fresh indie studio, only having created one other title known as “The Black Death”, a medieval survival action game that's still currently in Early Access on Steam. At the time of this article's posting, reviews for that game are currently mixed, with several negative reviews claiming that the game's development has been abandoned. Hopefully, with publishing assistance from Team17 backing this new IP, Marauders may not end up suffering the same fate.

Marauders currently does not have any set release date, but users that are interested can wishlist the game on Steam.
