Netflix hopes that its dwindling subscriber count can be fixed by the introduction of its Netflix Gaming Library.

Netflix has recently been dealing with a major subscriber drop since the start of the year. Despite this dilemma, the video streaming service looks to bump the numbers back up with its mobile gaming section, the Washington Post reports. Netflix aims to offer nearly 50 games in its library by the end of 2022.

Ever since Netflix pulled its services from Russia, the streaming platform lost roughly 700,000 subscribers. This huge figure just added to an already declining subscriber count from the months prior. However, now that Netflix is slowly transitioning into adapting video game elements, they might be able to regain subs.

Last July, Netflix expressed interest in venturing into the gaming world. This resulted in the company forming its own game development division to work on Netflix's original library of games. With the news circulating all over online, it caught the attention of popular gaming streamers such as Dr. Disrespect. The Doc expressed his interest to become Netflix’s next big star if the platform decided to release a gaming video category. While this collaboration is yet to happen, Netflix already made moves in entering the gaming realm. Whether or not the Doc actually becomes the face of Netflix Gaming is yet to be seen, but getting such an important endorser would help boost Netflix's chances of succeeding.

Back in November, Netflix Games officially launched on the Netflix app for Android devices. Honestly speaking, it was an underwhelming debut given how little the library had to offer. However, it looks like all that is going to change since Netflix aims to expand its gaming library by the end of the year. Depending on what games and what type of games they plan to release, Netflix could accomplish a significant climb in subscribers. Let’s just hope the game development division doesn’t disappoint.
