The Game Awards helped give the spotlight to the best workers in the gaming industry. However, many people actually watch The Game Awards more for the announcements and reveals rather than the awards ceremony itself. While still recognizing the successes of the awardees, we now turn our attention to some of the best new game reveals. Here are ClutchPoints Gaming's Top 10 New Games Revealed at The Game Awards 2021 (In no particular order):

Star Wars Eclipse

Developer: Quantic Dream
Publisher: Quantic Dream, Lucasfilm Games
Platforms: TBD
Release Date: TBD / 2-3 years

Any new game that is set in the Star Wars universe is bound to grab a lot of attention. Star Wars Eclipse already generated a lot of buzz with a single trailer alone. Developed by Quantic Dreams (Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human), Eclipse will focus more on narratives and will likely focus on intrigue and mysteries. With the game being set in the rarely-explored High Republic Era, Eclipse will open a lot of doors for the future of Star Wars games. The game currently doesn't have a release date yet, so expect the game to come out no earlier than 2023.

Homeworld 3 (Blackbird Interactive, Gearbox, Q4 2022)

Developer: Blackbird Interactive
Publisher: Gearbox Software, Gearbox Publishing
Platforms: PC
Release Date: Q4 2022

Homeworld has always been one of the more skill-intensive RTS games at the dawn of the RTS generation. With the return of Age of Empires 4, interest in RTS games has received a new high. Following up the success of AoE4 with other successful RTS comebacks can help the genre to reemerge to prominence. Perhaps with a new publisher, this time in the form of Gearbox, Homeworld 3 would be able to get a lot of attention when it finally launches in Q4 2022.

Slitterhead

Developer: Bokeh Game Studio
Publisher: Bokeh Game Studio
Platforms: TBD
Release Date: TBD 2023

From the original creator of the Silent Hill franchise comes a new horror game. It's no PT or Silent Hills, but do not discount the mind of Keiichiro Toyama and the music of Akira Yamaoka from giving us the chills. From the trailer alone, there's a lot of body horror and gruesome imagery already, yet the game feels very captivating. There's a certain charm in this game that draws you in, even if you know better than to come near anything this horrifying.

Wonder Woman

Developer: Monolith Productions
Publisher: Warner Brothers.
Platforms: Xbox Series X/S, PS5
Release Date: TBD

This one's an interesting one, and very timely, too. We don't get a lot of superhero games with female protagonists, and we can always start out with DC's iconic Amazoness, Wonder Woman. There's not a lot of details yet on this game, though, apart from it being worked on by the Shadows of War developers Monolith, and that it's going to be released on next-gen consoles. Monolith VP and Studio Head David Hewett did share that this game will also have the Nemesis System popularized by the Shadows of Mordor series, but how that can be applied in the world of Wonder Woman is still currently unknown. Yet, this game is part of our Top 10 New Games Revealed at The Game Awards 2021 list solely because of the star power of the game's heroine.

Alan Wake 2

Developer: Remedy Entertainment
Publisher: Epic Games Publishing
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: 2023

After ten years, and after much speculation, Alan Wake is finally back! There is so much hype surrounding this release, and rightfully so. Alan Wake's original story collected praise from critics and players alike. Now that he's going to be back, Game Director Sam Lake says that this time, Alan Wake 2 will be a survival horror game. This evolution will keep the game fresh, and can also introduce new gameplay elements to show off Remedy's very own Northlight Engine. With publisher Epic Games in tow, this game will surely make a large splash in the industry once it releases in 2023.

Steelrising

Developer: Spiders
Publisher: Nacon, BIGBEN INTERACTIVE
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: June 2022

This game feels like a marriage between Souls games and NieR: Automata, not only for the game's use of cyborgs but also because of the dark themes and art style. Set in Paris in the late 18th century, you play with the French Revolution as the backdrop, using your cybernetic parts to bring down bigger, badder, scarier automatons in a Souls-like game that we haven't seen before.

Star Trek Resurgence

Developer: Dramatic Labs
Publisher: Dramatic Labs
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X
Release Date: Spring 2022

Star Trek is one of those series that you either only have heard about, or you're really, really passionate about. For those passionate about Star Trek, this is a godsend. Yet, this is still a great way for newcomers to learn more about the franchise, as this game will mostly dwell on the narrative. Dramatic Labs is composed of dozens of former Telltale employees, so expectations are high for this game.

ARC Raiders

Developer: Embark Studios
Publisher: Embark Studios
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S
Release Date: TBD 2022

A free-to-play sci-fi squad-based shooter set in space, there's a lot to like about ARC Raiders. The art style is superb, the weapons look interesting and worthwhile, and the enemy design is unique. Bringing the setting to space really opens up your options on what you can put into your game, and Embark Studios didn't waste the opportunity they had on their hands.

Rumbleverse

Developer: Iron Galaxy Studios
Publisher: Epic Games Publishing
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X
Release Date: February 16, 2022

Who would have thought that the first-ever multiplayer game Epic Games Publishing will publish would be anything other than Fortnite? The surprise doubles up when you learn that Rumbleverse, too, is a Battle Royale game. This would probably be the first Battle Royale game without guns, though, as Rumbleverse is all about wrestling. Jump around and suplex your opponents all around the map in this 40-man multiplayer game, complete with wacky, colorful aesthetics that should appeal equally to adults and kids.

Sonic Frontiers

Developer: Sonic Team
Publisher: Sega
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch
Release Date: Q4 2022

Finally, Sonic is in an open world game! The very prospect of Sonic being in an open world by itself is breathtaking. With the success of games like Sonic Colors and Sonic Mania, it's time for Sonic Team to go back and try something new. Sonic's new movie will surely help promote this upcoming game, but it's not like the Blue Flash needed any more introduction. Still, there's some skepticism on whether this game will work or not. 3D Sonic Games, after all, have historically flopped. You have games like Sonic Forces, which, you know, better left forgotten. Regardless, we're sure that many Sonic fans will be keeping tabs on this one.

And that's it for our list of Top 10 New Games Revealed at The Game Awards 2021. We have high hopes for these games, and we look forward to more announcements that will be following up on the World Premieres we saw during The Game Awards. If anything, these give us a lot of hope in the health of the gaming industry, with a lot of great games lined up for release, as well as a lot of game developers still just starting to show what they're made of. Who knows, maybe these games will appear again in TGA, this time as awardees.
