Riot Games is officially rolling out the red carpet for the biggest LOL Esports year-ender. The 2020 League of Legends All-Star Event is only a little over a week away and there's so much to look forward to. The All-Star campaign kicked off early in November with the initial announcement and the fan voting. Riot remained mum about details on the event up until they released a snazzy trailer video.

Ending the year right

Like its previous iterations, this year's All-Star event will feature professional players from just about every major League of Legends region. The event serves as a tournament that fosters friendly rivalries between players after the gruelling annual world championships. The 2020 All-Star Event, unlike Worlds 2020, will be a wholly Online affair.

Riot Games has proven its ability to host events despite the ongoing global pandemic but this will still be a challenge. It's a relatively easier setup considering no players will be onsite but that opens up other problems. Professional players, veterans, and influencers will be playing from their home or regional studio. Fortunately, most participants will have Riot Games support across the world.

The brighter side of LOL

The very nature of the All-Star event makes it a perfect event for light-hearted League of Legends fun. Pro players can even focus on having fun of the game as opposed to the usual cutthroat competitions. Unfortunately, there will be zero physical interaction between participants but that doesn't mean they can't have fun in-game.

This year's All-Star event will be divided into two major stages. Underdog Uprising will see the major regions facing off against pairs of smaller regions. The Superstar Showdown stage will feature players, retired veterans, and five of the most famous influencers of the game.

It's set to be an exciting event for both participants and die-hard fans. Riot Games has explicitly stated that the event's games will be played at a higher ping due to the cross-country games. It might be a rougher viewing experience but fans can still hope for good old League of Legends fun. Additionally, most of the matches played in this year's All-Star Event will have prize money for charity on the line.

Skins for Charity

The All-Star event will also feature a special charity skin for players to pickup! Summoners can pick up Elderwood Ornn for 1350 RP in the in-game Shop. All of the proceeds will go towards The Riot Games Social Impact Fund. More information regarding the charity will be revealed close to the start of the League of Legends All-Star 2020 Event.

Catch some of your favorite pros, veterans, and influencers in this year's All-Star Event! The tournament will take place on December 18-20.
