George Karl is coming back to the Sacramento Kings, and he's bringing DeMarcus Cousins with him.

If today wasn't April Fools, this joke would have broken NBA Twitter.

To recall, George Karl coached the Kings for two seasons. He went 44-68 and reportedly lost DeMarcus Cousins and the rest of the locker room before he was fired.

Karl almost lost his job in November of 2015 after a public dispute with Cousins. The Kings eventually fired the former Coach of the Year in April of 2016.

The Kings traded Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans while he was doing an interview during All-Star weekend back in 2017. There’s actually a viral video of someone telling Cousins he got traded while he was speaking to the media and Boogie just started smiling once he found out he was getting traded.

Cousins played 470 games for the Kings. He averaged 21.1 points, 10.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists during the regular season. Cousins was unfortunately never able to lead the Kings to the playoffs before he was dealt.

Since getting traded by the Kings, Cousins has played for the Pelicans and Golden State Warriors. He was on the Los Angeles Lakers this season, but the team waived him. The former superstar is still rehabbing his ACL injury.

The Kings haven’t made the playoffs since 2006. They were in 11th place in the Western Conference standings before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19.
